PROJECT: Airworthiness Manager / Head of Safety
.
Together with our Partner, an international manufacturing company from the aerospace industry, we invite you to discuss the role of Airworthiness Manager / Head of Safety.
.
Aim of the role:
Operationally, the role runs the quality management system, governs the release of each aircraft before delivery, controls the configuration of the aircraft, monitors the in-service fleet, and embeds a proactive safety culture. Acts as the independent compliance authority demonstrating that the quality, configuration, and safety system meets FAA MOSAIC requirements; leads the compliance-side relationship with the FAA. This function is kept strictly independent from the Head of Design — self-verification by the same person is not compatible with independent quality assurance. Serves as the internal overseer of compliance and quality.
.
Scope of responsibilities:
1. Quality Management System:
– Establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
– Conducting internal audits and managing non-conformance / corrective-action process.
– Ensuring every produced conforms to the approved design.
2. Production Release (Gatekeeper):
– Final technical approval or rejection of each aircraft before delivery — independent of commercial pressure.
– Oversight of production acceptance testing.
– Maintaining conformity documentation per serial number.
3. Configuration Management:
– Defining and controlling the baseline configuration of the aircraft.
– Managing the engineering change process in coordination with the Head of Design.
– Ensuring design-to-component-to-production traceability per serial number.
4.Continued Airworthiness:
– Operating service bulletin system and incident / failure reporting system.
– Ongoing fleet safety and reliability monitoring with risk analysis.
– Maintaining flight manual and maintenance manual revisions.
5. Safety Management:
– Establishing and operating a safety management system across design, production, and in-service.
– Identification, assessment, and escalation of safety risks; maintaining risk register.
– Leading incident investigations including root-cause analysis.
– Promoting proactive safety culture across engineering, production, and operations.
– Direct escalation of critical safety findings to the Accountable Manager.
6. MOSAIC Programme (dual role):
– Aligning quality management system to FAA US aircraft framework.
– Building documentation and traceability for authority review and make-and-model audit.
– Owning conformity documentation as auditable backbone of the compliance statement.
– Primary compliance-side point of contact toward FAA on quality, configuration, and safety matters.
– Preparing for and supporting authority audits and conformity reviews.
.
Requirements:
- Higher education degree in a technical field. Engineering, aviation or any equivalent professional qualification in quality / safety / airworthiness.
- 5 years or more in aviation quality, airworthiness, compliance, or safety management roles.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a quality / airworthiness / safety function with independent authority.

- Pilot"s license (PPL, LAPL, or UL) will be an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong ability to identify and resolve problems.
- Strong communication skills. Cross-functional communication toward engineering, production, and management.
- Ability to decide independently of commercial pressure and to enforce that decision.
- Analytical strength in fleet data, risk, and safety evaluation.
